Leon Zarębski sets up a small craft workshop in 1956. The first products were plastic combs…
After Leon Zarębski’s death, the family business was taken over by his children, Jan and Teresa, who named the company LONZA in honor of the founder.
The founder’s son, Jan Zarębski, looking for new markets, launched the production of toys for children, and miniature “resorak” cars, which at the time, were the competition for products under the MATCHBOX brand. The toys achieved substantial success and were the company’s primary source of income for many years.
The family becomes the owner of a land in Kashubia, which turns out to be rich in high-quality mineral water. Assessing market needs well, the family quickly decides to set up a production plant to produce water in PET and glass bottles. At the same time, by the decision of the whole family, the company’s products are given the name NATA, derived from the name of the company owner’s daughter, Natalia. NATA products become available throughout Poland.
As LONZA develops production and sales, the company makes a strategic decision to start producing PEPSI and SCHWEEPPES drinks in cooperation with PEPSICO. Additionally, it develops research and development and laboratory facilities for developing and producing new products.
The company invests in a state-of-the-art, fully-automated production line to produce PET-packaged waters and beverages. At the same time, a new, cutting-edge warehouse is built, meeting European standards.
In the production plant, the HACCP production safety monitoring system is implemented. LONZA Production Plant is one of the first plants in Poland producing food products to be granted a HACCP certification.
Nata water is certified by the Institute of Mother and Child. And in 2004, Nata water wins a nationwide ranking of waters conducted by the opinion- forming magazine “Świat Konsumenta” (Consumer World).
The company produces a brand-new, modern bottle for its flagship mineral water and introduces its new name, NATA AQUA. Additionally, it enters into a partnership with ALIMA GERBER for the production of baby water.
